Smith "won his wings unexpectedly," his journal said. “He was a father, son, brother, grandson, family and friend to all. His love for living life to the fullest and his independent spirit will be greatly missed."

When it was asked by Savannah if she likes to have two dads, Everleigh responded with a smile , "I love it."
